About us

Gateway People is a relational apostolic movement that connects Christian churches, charities, businesses, influencers, ministries and organisations for the purpose of advancing the kingdom of God.  As a family, we are committed to loving God, reaching out and making disciples.

We recognise that connected in faith, hope and love, we can go so much further, and do so much more, than alone.  We see the value of cross pollination in God’s kingdom and the power of working in unity.  We acknowledge that there is a blessing in association that we can all share in and enjoy.

In Luke chapter 5, we read about two very different outcomes of a fishing trip.  After a disappointing night of hard work and striving, the fishermen caught nothing.

But then Jesus came along and encouraged them to launch out into the deep again.  At His words, they launched out once again and cast their nets.  This time they caught so many fish that their nets began to break.  Recognizing their need for help, they called out to their partners to come.  But even with the extra boat, the boats still began to sink.

This passage illustrates the importance of partnership in fulfilling the Great Commission.

Gateway People is a fleet of boats coming together in response to the call to be ‘fishers of men’, women and children.  It’s a community in which we hear God’s word together and respond in faith, not based on the disappointments of the past.

Is God calling you to be part of Gateway People?

We’d love to invite you to come along to one of our in person or online events and explore what the Lord might be saying.  Visit the Gateway People for a list of forthcoming events or email us.

MORE ABOUT GATEWAY PEOPLE

HOW OFTEN DOES GATEWAY PEOPLE MEET?

We meet both in person and online throughout the year.  Some of the gatherings are targeted at those serving in leadership, others cater for leaders and their teams and we also have open meetings.  Our annual flagship conference is called Gateway and is usually in held in March.  For more information or to book your ticket visit: Here.

HOW DID THE MOVEMENT COME ABOUT?

As City Life Church Portsmouth has gone along its journey, we’ve found more and more churches, people and ministries resonating with what we are doing and asking how they can become more connected with us.  Part of our vision is to be an apostolic resource hub that helps to bless, serve, and strengthen the capitol ‘C’ Church and advance the kingdom of God.  Gateway People is also part of a prophetic fulfilment of several words that have been given.

WHERE DID THE GATEWAY PEOPLE NAME COME FROM?

During a visit of the worship group Jesus Culture to the south coast of England, a word was shared about the south being part of the ‘gateway’ to the nation.  Many of the early connections of Gateway People stretched along the coastal line.  Though the movement isn’t exclusive to any location but is open to all.

Gateways are strategic points of entry, defence, gathering and exchange.   They can represent authority and be strategic places for connection.

David the psalmist spoke of a gateway people when he encouraged us to ‘Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in’ (Psalm 24:7) Ultimately we are a gateway for the King of Glory!

CAN I BE PART OF GATEWAY PEOPLE AND STILL BELONG TO A DENOMINATION, OR OTHER MOVEMENTS/NETWORKS?

Yes, absolutely!  No one group of people has all the pieces of the jigsaw.  The Apostle Paul said in Corinthians 13, we all see ‘in part’.

IS THERE A MEMBERSHIP FEE FOR BELONG TO GATEWAY PEOPLE?

No. However, some of our events are ticketed, and we do take up offerings at our gatherings and give people the opportunity to sow into the movement and help cover costs.
